I wasn't too sure I would enjoy blogging when I learned it would be a part of this class, however I have come to find it very interesting. Through reading other's posts I have been able to learn new ideas I would not have thought about the particular topic. I also was sometimes surprised at how similar to my veiws their's were. The weekly blogs really made me think more about communication and how I could use it more effectively.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed and liked doing all the blogs. They were all very informative and useful. By reading other people’s postings, I was able to gain valuable insight from the many different experiences and points of view. A posting that stood out for me was in communication across cultures. The posting was about asking a friend from Mexico if he wanted to eat out at a Chi Chi’s Restaurant. The friend from Mexico thought he was asked to go to a titty bar because Chi Chi was slang for breasts. I had quite a laugh after reading that posting.
ReplyDeleteI too was a bit wary when I heard that we would be blogging for this class. I’ve never done blogging before, but I’ve always enjoyed it as part of our class.
ReplyDeleteWhat I liked most were the blog postings on ‘Appropriate Communications’ and ‘Communication Across Cultures’.
I was pleased to find that most fellow bloggers shared my views on how important personal appearances and nonverbal behavior are – not only when you are in a formal environment and the object of attention, but also when you are in an informal environment and not necessarily the ‘object of attention.’
It was amusing and instructive to read on ‘Communicating Across Cultures’. Even though it can be difficult at times, it’s nice to know that there are plenty of people out there willing to go the extra mile to make communication between different cultures easier.
I really don’t have an answer for what I liked the least – except that I wasn’t able to attend the Mary Peirce seminar!
All in all, I have thoroughly enjoyed this class, and enjoyed getting to know my fellow students and teacher.
When I first started this class, we were given this assignment to blog. I was very nervous to start blogging; so many thoughts crossed my mind about peopel reading my thoughts and opinions. I ended up enjoying it! I have never read blogs or blogged myself. I love reading all the other bloggers posts and what they had to say. My favorite blog was the very first one about appropriate communications. It was just neat to read about everyone's experiences and their views. I don't have one complaint about our blogging assignment.
ReplyDeleteWhen we first were told blogging was going to be a weekly assignment, I have to admit I didn’t think I would like it. I didn’t know how well I would do at it, or how much I would like having my thoughts out there. For those of you who know me, I tend to not hold back on my thoughts, but that is more for people who know me or in a face to face communication. As the weeks have gone on I have found that I really have enjoyed this assignment. Reading everyone else’s postings along with my own has been great. Apparently odd things don’t just happen to me. I really enjoyed the communicating across boarders and the email communications the best. The examples given were great. This experience has made me less timid about blogging, but in turn, still hasn’t made me want to run out and start my own blog, yet.
ReplyDeleteWhen class started and you began talking about blogging, I asked, "What is blogging?" That is how little I knew of blogging. I was afraid to do it but once I started I have enjoyed it and there really is nothing to be afraid of. I don't feel there was anything I didn't like.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading other students opinions on the questions asked, and realized some of the students are not fresh out of high school, they have a little life experience. That, to me, was refreshing because many thought like I did.
My favorite week had to be week 2, Appropriate Communications, most students wrote back right away and did not wait for the last day. Plus the stories were funny and everyone had a lot to say about that subject. I'm glad to see there is still some old fashion values and respect out there!
I think this has been an extremely creative yet educational way to get people involved in communication and technology. I think it was nice new way to interact and learn with other students. I also learned by doing these blogging assignments that I am not the only person who isn’t up to date with all the technology. I assumed that unlike me most younger people would be familiar with blogging and twittering but through this blog I learned that I was incorrect. I enjoyed reading my classmates posts and seeing what their thought and ideas were on the different forms of communication we covered this quarter. I have to admit it was difficult to remember to do the blog since it was on a separate website than blackboard or the portal. All in all it gave me the experience I might need in the future. Having a project like this allowed me to not only learn the material but to learn how to use the program as well. I know it will be an experience I will get to use in the future.
ReplyDeleteI was very nervous going back to school by starting my first class in business writing because I have been out of school for 12 years. My writing, along with my grammar is has not been improved since then. On my first day in Erica’s Business Writing class, she talked about blogging and since I had never heard the word blogging in school, I did not know what she was talking about most of the time. I asked myself, "What is blogging?" After the first lesson in class, I learned little about what blogging is.
ReplyDeleteOnce I started writing and posting on the blog for class, other students began to read my opinions. I enjoyed it and I had nothing to be afraid of. I think this blog class has helped me a lot by improving my writing skill and grammar. Compared to when I first started the class to the present time, now, I don't feel there is anything I don't like. I will continue blogging to help improve my writing skills.
I enjoyed reading other students’ opinions and stories that they posted in this class. I have realized that I’m not the only one that has been out of school for along time, but some of the students in the class were the same as me. The weekly blogs really made me think more about communication and how I could use it more effectively on my future career.
According to what I have seen I class, everyone has enjoyed posting stories on the blog. I think this is a good communication channel for student to communicate. Most students wrote back right away and did not wait for the last day. I enjoyed getting to know my fellow students and teacher.
At first I was skeptical as to how blogging would help with this class and what it would make us learn. Now at the end of the quarter I have really enjoyed the experience of reading others blogs and also posting my own opinions. I enjoyed the blogging experience because it allows me to express my opinion on whatever the topic may be. I also enjoyed reading others blogs because it made me realize that as a class we are a very diverse group with many different backgrounds and opinions. I don't really have any complaints really about the blogging. The only thing I would say is sometimes it was hard to remember you had to do a blog every week, but after about the third week it became a fairly routine activity.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't sure, when we started this assignment, if I would enjoy it or really even be comfortable with it.
ReplyDeleteNow, I feel like it could be a great business tool. I think it is a great way for you to get a perspective on what other people are thinking and what their opinion of a situation may be. It also could be used to colaborate on a project with every one in different locations around the world.
I would definately recommend this as a tool for people to communicate. I personally found it to be interesting and enjoyable.
By doing all of the blog assignments throughout the quarter has opened my eyes to the fact that through internet communication I was not presenting myself in a professional way. The blogs have taught me to be more aware of this and how to improve my image via internet communication. I liked that there was a wide variety of subjects to blog about. Also I enjoyed reading other’s responses to the questions. All the blogging we did in this class has given me a very useful skill that will stick with me throughout my professional career.
ReplyDeleteMy first blogging experience wasn't to bad at all. I do think it is something that I may not use for awhile again, but I'm happy for the opportunity. I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy going back and reading other blog posts from people in the class, but once I started I realized a lot of them were really neat. I think that was one of the things I liked most was going back and reading them, because there are so many different views, interesting stories, and comments. The thing I liked least was the fact that if I forgot to write down blog post in my daily planner I would almost forget to do it! It's not something I've ever done before or had to try and remember to do.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, when I heard that we were going to be assigned to do blogs, I was not very excited. I did not really know what blogging entailed and what was going to be expected of me. I am pleased to say that I had a very enjoyable experience with the blogs. I enjoyed being able to throw out my opinion and let others be able to hear it, while still being respectful. The thing that I did not like about the blogging was that we had to do it every week. Other than that, blogging was a very enjoyable experience that I have learned a tremendous amount from. The best part about blogging was being able to read other classmate’s posts and see things from their perspective…not just always seeing it from my point of view.
ReplyDeleteI found that the blogging was fun. I got to learn about experiences that other people had in life, and how they handled them. I found them to be very insightful. I like the blogging because it does prepare you for real world and business atmosphere. In the blogging you obliviously have to present yourself in a professional manner. I find that to be rewarding in itselt.
ReplyDeleteI was also questioning blogging at first for this class. I never blogged before but have heard of it, but after blogging for this class I really enjoy it and I'm thinking of starting a blog for employment, that was brought to my attention in one of the blog articles. The blog topic that I really enjoyed would be the appropriate communication blog. I enjoyed readying everyone’s comments and your appearance really does tell people about you, good or bad!
ReplyDeleteAfter reading the blogs, I’ve learned that everyone has different points of views. Everyone has different experiences, which will lead him or her to have different views. What I liked most about blogging is all the different stories. There is nothing I didn’t like about blogging. Until this class, I didn’t know blogging existed. As a first time blogger, I have really enjoyed it and will continue blogging. I’ve learned to be more open and accepting to others points of views.
ReplyDeleteUntil I started this class, I never even heard of blogging. After using it, I have found that it is a great way of communication and an excellent way to speak my opinion. Not only do I have the opportunity to speak my opinion, but I get to look at others opinions and responses which makes me look at different things in different aspects that I never would have thought of. I feel like you kind of get to know the person and their personality just by reading their blog posts. I found blogging very useful and plan on continuing to learn about it and utilize it in my education and professional career.
ReplyDeleteI did enjoy blogging although, I can't say that I will continue to do it on a regular basis. It was nice to learn about other people's experience and about other cultures and ways of life. I can't really say that there was a part that I liked the least.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first heard that we were going to be blogging I was nervous. I really didn’t like the idea that I was going to be sharing my thoughts on different subjects. I thought that some of my classmates may take my opinions the wrong way. I really enjoyed reading my classmates post on different subjects and trying to understand where they were coming from with their opinions. I had learned that even though each of us had our own opinions, everyone was right. I really liked not having one answer that was correct because that gave us the ability to share our true feelings on a subject. Overall, I really enjoyed blogging as a part of the class and would recommended doing it again.
ReplyDeleteMy experience in blogging was great. I was taking business writing not only because it was a core requirement, but to improve my business writing skills. What I liked about blogging was being able to share, and read classmate view points. Week two on appropriate communications was very interesting. There was such a variety of examples. I will continue to blog, because if I do not keep up the practice of writing and improving my skill, then I will lose this skill. I am sure everyone remembers how hard it was at the beginning of the term to start writing so everyone could read and view your writing skills. Prewriting, writing, and rewriting takes time and work, the more the skill is used the easier it will be. During my profession career and a student, I do not remember ever doing so much writing, revising, prewriting, and writing again. This was a good experience because I feel more comfortable with my writing skills. I would recommend that blogging stays as a weekly assignment in this class. Blogging is a very important tool, and everyone should be aware that it is available. In this class the students receive the support and encouragement to succeed.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the Wiio’s Laws of Communication blog in week 5. These blog assignments open our eyes to the everyday situations around us and teach us to be aware of the issues and diversities. The stories that were shared were very interesting and I’ve learned from them. I cannot pick a week that I didn’t enjoy or learn from. Blogging is not only entertaining, but informative and a great way to communicate. I look forward to blogging outside of class-now that I know how to do it!

ReplyDeleteHello there,
At first I have to admit I did not know what a blog was. I thought is this something the teacher is making us do to give us more homework. I realy didn't know what to expect. After a few weeks of doing the assignments I started to enjoy reading everyone's response and ideas to the articles. I don't think I had a favorite one. I really did enjoy speaker Mary Pierce. I did not have a bad experience with the blog's. I'm glad I had the experience of doing these assignmments. They were very informative. I would highly reccommend taking this class. The instructor is awesome!
Hi everyone, I have reread all of your blogs and I enjoyed them again. I am glad to read that some of you have had as much fun as I have. Even though, it was kind of mandatory, it was still fun. My favorite blog was nonverbal communication. Some of our examples were really strange, makes you think what is going on out there. I didn't really have a least favorite blog, I found a little something to take with me from all of the topics. Well, once again it's been fun, and I hope to blog with some if not all of you in the future. Keep up the good work and have a great Fall Quarter!
ReplyDeleteI had trouble remember to do the blogging with the things going on in my life. It's been quite eventful the past couple weeks and very stressful! It has gotten to the point where we moved in with a family member. Although I didn't always get my blogs done I did enjoy reading some. The ones I liked reading the most was our first blog. With everyone telling a little about themselves you realize that your not the only one in a certain position. I enjoyed reading a lot of these and probalby would have enjoyed reading more of them.
